Ancient and Modern in Harrogate’s latest hotel

Evening Standard - May 19th 2007

The Genteel, Victorian spa town of Harrogate gets a new hotel with the opening of The Balmoral hotel.
Aside from the Hotel Du Vin ( which opened back in 2003)
Harrogate lacks decent boutique hotels in its centre. Perhaps this will set a new precedent.
The look will be clubby with open fires, chesterfield sofas, dark wood floors and regency wallpaper mixed with the requisite Wi-Fi, LCD plasma screen televisions & 24 hour room service.
The hotel’s restaurant, the Harrogate Grille ( sister to the Hoxton Grille)will serve breakfast and steak-and-chips style dinners and more than 20 wines by the glass(70 by the bottle) with a two-course children’s menu and members’ cocktail bar.

Doubles from £145.00 room only
