WHAT'S IT LIKE?
A character Victorian house that makes an ideal base if you’re taking the waters at this famous old spa town. It’s also perfect for popping into the famous Betty’s Tearoom for a naughty-but-nice Fat Rascal (a Yorkshire speciality similar to a scone), but be warned you may come out looking like one!!!!!!!!!!!?
The Balmoral Hotel looks trad on the outside but the interior has just had a revamp, transforming it into a contemporary boutique hotel. Look out for a mango-colouredleather chair in the corner of the foyer designed by Mathew Hilton.Admire it by all means , but don’t dare sit on it!
The newly refurbished Windsor Suite in dramatic red and black is the last word in decadence. With black flock wallpaper designed by Nina Campbell, red sofas and carpet with gilt furnishing and art deco touches, this is a suite that demands to be noticed. Equally eye-catching is the hotels hip restaurant. The Harrogate Grille, in contemporary mango and brown, which buzzes with diners on Saturday nights. Traditional dishes are served up with a modern twist to tempt the taste buds.

Joules Holland is one of its famous visitors, and it’s a favourite of the well-healed Yorkshire set, as well as couples wanting quality time together and ladies-that-lunch on shopping and spa breaks.
